Going on an Erie Vacation!

We will soon be headed here:

      




It’s called Maumee Bay. It’s near Toledo. It’s pretty, huh? Who knew that our very own state had such an idyllic place. 

We will be staying here:
       

  
This is Maumee Bay Lodge and Conference Center. Jim and Doug had a gig here a few months ago. At the time it was frozen over in the snows of our harsh winter. But it wasn’t hard to see that it would be gorgeous in the summer. So we are going back! Two nights here. Then we’re off to Cleveland…
     


To see the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! I have never been here but Jim has. He says I will love it. I think I will too…I’m a Rock and Roll geek. Will there be lots of 80s Rockers? Don’t tell me…I wanna be surprised!

For the improv comedians that reside in both of our souls, we will be engaging our skills at this place:

                           

According to Wikipedia, “Dick’s Last Resort teaches its servers lessons on how to be obnoxious….Patrons of Dick’s are expected to be insulted, or placed in uncomfortable situations…Paper hats are given to diners to wear during their stay…While there are no napkins on the tables, they are generally thrown directly at the customers by the serving staff.”

Ohhh, Yeeeahhh….

Following our nights out on the town, the final leg of our whirlwind vacation will take us to Oberlin to visit Jim’s mom at a lovely place called Kendal.

                       

Stay tuned for home-spun photos upon our return…Ok, photos aren’t spun, but you get the picture (Ha!).

It's officially called "Kendal at Oberlin" an upscale, retirement community/resort run by the Quakers. Mom has been there since ought-2, three years after my Dad went home. As it is for most, the exhorbitant entry fee was paid through the sale of their home of 40 years. Mom doesn't consider it a fee, but rather a fully paid, lifetime long-term health insurance policy. She loves it there, and will be taken care of for life.

Sozo Conference '08

This gets a big Dan WWWWWOOWWWW... What a weekend! It was awesome, it was awful, it was amazing and it was a wild ride! Talk about a roller coaster. But I learned a lot and grew a lot and I am still processing. The Sozo folks from Bethel Church in Redding, Ca. are gifted teachers and administers of emotional/spiritual healing. I went on Friday to be in the "hot seat" for a Sozo with somoene from the Bethel team. This was good because it gave me a chance to see them in action. I was able to observe how they work, see what I did and did not like in how they did things and decide what to do and not do when we are ministering here. It was very confirming to see that they work very similarly to how we do on our Sozo team. YAY! And now, a few pictures from the trip. First of all, I needed a travelling companion. I enjoy listening to Alan Alda's podcast 'Clear and Vivid' . At the end of every episode he asks his guest seven quick questions. Here are my answers: 1. What do you wish you really understood? Why the universe was created in such a way that violent death or death, in general, was required for the sustenance of its living creatures. The food chain - I'm not a fan.... 2.
