Leaving science to the pros...

I think for now, I'll let the professional hair care people do the experimenting for me since my hair is so weird. I shall pay them for their efforts by investing in their products (higher-quality, lower-chemical products rather than the cheaper brands I usually get). I may also continue to 'rinse only' a couple of times a week to let my scalp and hair go au naturale. That was one of the philosophies of no-poo that I liked. Aveda came highly recommended. Aveda is also known for their eco-friendliness so I explored their stash at the local Dillard's. This is what I will try: http://www.strawberrynet.com/images/products/04727974304.jpg Its supposed to balance the moisture on the scalp and is good for 'all' hair types. Seemed like a good bet...This was confirmed by a friend of a friend who is an Aveda rep. who also recommended something for my dry ends. In addition, my friend Theresa is going to let me try her Aveda shampoo called 'Shampure'. One of thes...

Why I am at where I am at....

Yesterday I went to see my favorite head shrinker...I have known Dr. V for about 10 years. He rescued me from the craziness that is my brain by prescribing medication to me. I trust this guy. I don;t care that he isn't an outward Christian (I really have no idea what his faith is, but he does respect mine and speaks with me about it often). I just love Dr. V and I believe that God placed him in my life when I needed him. Yesterday he told me that the hypervigilance that I an experiencing right now is completely  understandable. Hypervigilance is: A n enhanced state of sensory sensitivity accompanied by an exaggerated intensity of behaviors whose purpose is to detect threats. Hyper vigilance is also accompanied by a state of increased anxiety which can cause exhaustion.  The way this plays out for me is that I am in an almost constant state of fear that everything I hold dear is threatened and/or will be taken from me. I fear that my friends are mad at me, think ill of me...

A glimpse into the pasta.

Most folks who know me eventually learn that I struggle with what I call "Spaghetti head". It's an anxiety disorder (maybe OCD, maybe Generalized Anxiety Disorder. Who knows what)...Whatever its clinical term, it can be miserable in my brain at times and tends to act up when I am under stress or at um, certain times of the month. Since I just finished a days long bout I have it fresh in my mind so I can maybe help folks understand why I sometimes have to avoid things that I know might trigger one of these episodes. Here is an excerpt of my thought process from a simple decision about grocery shopping. It's amusing looking back on it. But when it is going on and has to do with issues of more substance it can be exhausting. I need to go to the grocery store. I will go to Kroger. But maybe I should go to Biggs because a couple of times I felt led to go to Biggs and cool stuff happened. I really prefer Kroger. But maybe God likes Biggs better. I should always ...

New addiction!

I have tried a lot of cleaners but this stuff (pardon my lingo) is the s***! I got it just to use on the hardwood here at home but saw that you could use it on most other surfaces. I went a little crazy with my mop, bucket and rag but WOW...After a week it still smells fresh and clean - and that's hard to come by in this house of animals and my own tendency to be sorta Oscar Madison. I am wondering if they make Murphy's Oil pet shampoo and carpet cleaner! My OCD may just turn into something worth having! Woohoo! :)
